After 20 years as an engineer and manager at high tech companies, Susan reconnected to her early passion for creating a healthy environment for people to live and work. She now has ten years experience in sustainable business consulting as founder at Sustainable Progress Consulting and teaches about sustainable business practices in the Green MBA at Dominican University of California and the MBA in Sustainable Management at Presidio Graduate Institute.
Her specialty is helping clients improve resource efficiency and save money at the same time, using a variety of tools and methods: opportunity assessments, sustainability education, environmental and sustainability management systems based on ISO 14001, key performance indicators, carbon foot printing and reduction strategies using the latest protocols, behavior changes, and project management. She also helps organizations capitalize on the added meaning these efforts bring to the workplace culture.
Susan holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; an M.B.A. in Environmental Entrepreneurship; an M.A. in Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Communities; and is a fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy. She also volunteers in her community to promote sustainable businesses (including co-founding the annual Sustainable Enterprise Conference) and neighborhoods, and is making her home more sustainable with efficiency projects and by growing organic food.
