John spent much of his youth playing in the woods near his home, developing a strong sense of connection with nature and all things wild. While working for 15 years in high-tech industrial marketing and sales, he concurrently pursued many of his passions, including earning an MBA in International Business, spending a week or more in solitude in the wilderness every year, buying an organic farm and developing a sustainable lifestyle. He was able to merge his passions with his career in 2000 when he co-founded the groundbreaking graduate program that became the Green MBA at Dominican University of California. He is the guy who actually coined the term “Green MBA,” which is now used by hundreds of MBA programs globally. He was Program Director until 2009, when he decided to focus on teaching, speaking and consulting. He continues as a professor, which includes teaching the Green MBA’s capstone Strategic Enterprise Planning course.
John specializes in green business strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as sustainable enterprise leadership development.
John and his wife Ana continue to live on Golden Nectar Farm, which features 160 varieties of organic fruit, vegetable gardens, chickens and ducks, natural buildings, solar arrays, and other sustainable living features.
